Why this training exists
Caregiver burnout and professional burnout mirror each other
SHS&S was built to support family caregivers. As we kept searching for caregivers wherever they could be found, that search led us into hospitals, rehab centers, and home health agencies — and we discovered that many healthcare professionals are experiencing the same burnout as the families they serve. Caregivers and healthcare professionals are part of the same ecosystem.
Supports discharge planning standards
Helps social workers and case managers meet ACMA and CCMC standards through education, resources, and support that promote safe, effective care transitions.
Reduces caregiver overwhelm
We help families build a Personalized Plan of Care — similar to those used daily by professional caregiving agencies — filled with everything everyone involved needs to know to provide quality care.
Improves continuity of care
A stabilized caregiver follows discharge instructions more reliably, strengthening the whole care ecosystem and helping reduce complicated, avoidable readmissions.
Extends support beyond discharge
Our 4-week stabilization program reinforces education and answers questions, helping new and established caregivers alike make a successful transition into the caregiving role.
For agencies
Burnout prevention systems for care teams
In response to growing demand, SHS&S also offers a structured, agency-based implementation model — built to work within your existing workflow, not replace it.
What it does
- Identifies burnout triggers early.
- Helps healthcare professionals create a Buddy System for mutual support.
- Encourages balanced patient care and self-care.
- Strengthens teamwork, agency efficiency, and reduces staff fatigue and turnover risk.
Structured, measurable outcomes
Our systems collect structured data so care professionals and agencies can track engagement and progress. That data rolls up into monthly, quarterly, and annual reports — tangible evidence of stabilization, for the care professional, the family and caregiver, and the agency.
Monthly training
Who should attend the SHS&S monthly training classes and why?
Caregiver burnout can be a life threatening situation that requires everyone involved with the patient and caregiver to understand the causes, effects, consequences, and solutions to caregiver burnout. This is the only way to better serve, support and protect both the caregiver and the person receiving care. For this reason at SHS&S we’ve decided to make our FOUR HOUR Monthly training available for everyone directly and indirectly involved with the caregiver and patients care. So who does this include?
- Medical and Non-Medical Healthcare Professionals
- Community Organizations serving caregivers, patients, and families
- Family Caregivers and Families of individuals receiving care
Why is it vital that caregivers and families attend?
We learned from previous in-person classes the value of including caregivers and families in the same educational conversation with professionals. Their personal experiences and audience participation provided perspectives that professionals cannot gain just by learning about caregiving alone. Just as a doctor asks a patient questions to understand where and what hurts before determining the appropriate treatment, we need to hear directly from caregivers to understand what their challenges are and how to identify more effective ways to support them both. This is the only way the caregiver can provide quality and continuity of care to the patient.
So in a way, the Caregiver is the Guest of Honor in our Monthly Training!
Both of the following video clips of one of our monthly classes is made up of professionals and caregivers showing the benefit of including caregivers and families in discussions about them to get their personal experience and perspective. In this discussion we were discussing the Gene Hackman Family Tragedy where the wife as a caregiver died first and Gene Hackman and the dog died afterwards. It demonstrate the invaluable role of the caregiver and the tragic results of what happens to a non supported and protected caregiver.
How are the four hours divided?
HOURS 1 & 2 – FOUNDATIONAL TRAINING – (To be attended by all)
All participants should attend hours 1 & 2 because everyone needs to understand the causes, effects, consequences, and solutions to caregiver burnout. But as part of their curriculum the caregiver and family needs to purchase our Introductory Ebook that will be used as part of the training materials. The Introductory Ebook introduces caregivers and families to the next step: our 4–6 Week Caregiver Stabilization Training Program. In addition to the Ebook they will also walk away with a Certificate of Completion as proof of attending the class. The cost of the class for caregivers and families of patients is: $29.99 + TAX, which includes a copy of this Introductory Ebook.
HOURS 3 & 4 – PROFESSIONAL APPLICATION
Medical and Non-Medical Healthcare Professionals and Community Organizations must attend all four hours. But the final two hours are specifically for all professionals. It is designed to help them take this knowledge along with tools and skills back to their workplace to apply what they learned. Also to share appropriate information with families and caregivers about our 4 Week burnout prevention and stabilization services.
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION: $100
The cost for all professionals to attend is $100 for the complete four-hour training and a copy of this same Introductory Ebook that will be used as part of their curriculum and class participation. Professionals do NOT need to purchase the ebook separately.
The SHS&S approach
Recognizing that caregiver burnout cannot be addressed by educating only the caregiver or professional, at SHS&S we’ve found a simple way to bring Everyone involved in the patient's circle under one training class! Going back to that Doctor patient analogy, if we continue to provide solutions before understanding WHY caregivers burnout we may accidentally prescribe Headache Medication for the patients stomach ulcers! So by coming together as our videos above show we can protect and support them both as a unit.
